Philippines, S. Korea Sign Seasonal Workers Agreement

(MENAFN) The Philippines and South Korea have solidified their bilateral ties through a freshly signed joint agreement establishing Seoul's seasonal labor initiative, the Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) announced Sunday.

"The agreement sets a whole-of-government framework that unites national and local efforts in deploying Filipino seasonal workers to South Korea," the DA said in a press release.

The pact creates a comprehensive governmental structure coordinating nationwide and regional initiatives to send Filipino temporary laborers to South Korea, according to the DA's official statement.

"It guarantees fair labor practices, legal protection, and proper welfare, while promoting ethical recruitment and agricultural cooperation between both countries," the DA said.

The framework ensures equitable employment standards, juridical safeguards, and adequate worker protection while advancing transparent hiring processes and farm sector collaboration between both nations, the DA emphasized.

The memorandum commits the DA to providing farming skills training, economic development programs, and social reintegration assistance for workers completing their overseas assignments, the agency confirmed.
